Please bring a magazine advertisement to class on Monday. Choose one that includes people and you suspect depicts gender or social class issues. The wackier the better.

In this class, we will examine how family, gender, social class, education, race, and ethnicity function and shape our personal identities, cultural values, and societal expectations. Additionally, we will critically analyze how the media and pop culture create the myth and promise of the “American Dream.”
